The Ventus Project

The human ear is faster and far more sensitive than the eye

The visual overload of our digital landscape pushed me into looking for other senses to communicate information. The power of hearing, and the superior ability of the human audiory system to recognize patterns, make auditory displays one of the most appropriate modalities when displaying complex patterns and changes over time.

The first auditory display I heard, and one of the oldest, most widely used, is the hourly church bell. This software's implementation is also to play at regular intervals, three times a day, updating users on the weather, even awaking them, without being intrusive.
